You don't own your poker game anymore, Alan. It belongs to me. I'm gonna teach you how to stop being such a crappy donkey and giving your money away to noobs at casinos all the time.
Now, I'm not the best player in the world. As a matter of fact, I'm not even the best person out of the old crew. But I do know that you definitely need to get your game fixed in a hurry.
So here are a few steps to get this thing started:
1. Quit poker. Just kidding Alan...kinda. You don't have to quit, but if you're not a winning player (you might think you are, but I'm pretty sure if you kept a roll, you would know that it's not true) then you better be trying to get better every time you play (which you aren't).
2. Remember how to KISS. Not talkin about your girl, homie. KEEP IT SIMPLE, STUPID. I think you complicate things way too much in your game. Remember, you are not playing against top flight pros like Daniel Negreanu, Doyle Brunson, Kenny Lee, or Kevin Hwang. You are playing against people who just started playing in $1/$2 games.
a. Don't worry about physical reads so much. Don't ask people to count down their chips just to see how they do it. Don't worry about shaky hands and all that other crap.
b. Focus on betting patterns more. They tell a lot more about a person that you think.
c. Don't try to make crazy plays at those tables. It doesn't make any sense. Nobody will appreciate it. You won't make any money off it. You will get called by a guy with almost nothing because he doesn't know any better.
d. Make simple bets that maximize profits.
3. Specific critiques of your game.
a. Stop min raising preflop. It's stupid. That's it. It's STUPID.
b. IT'S STUPID.
c. Don't overvalue your hands. Your hands are only as good as the way they play out.
1. ex: you have AA in LP. EP (your slightly better than average player) limps, you raise 4x BB. SB folds, BB, folds, Limper Calls.
FLOP: 4 5 J EP checks, you bet 3/4 pot. He calls. (this is when you start to worry just a little)
TURN: 4 5 J 9 Two things could happen here: EP bets or EP check raises. The first one might be that he put you on a couple overs, but the second one is almost definitely a set.
I'm not saying you should always fold in this spot, but don't just automatically assume your AA is good. And if you had AK....don't do anything stupid. haha.
4. Keep a roll. Put in like $240. That's 4 buy ins at the $60 game. You should usually have more than 10 buy ins for your roll, but you can't afford $600. Set rules for when you have to get up from a table. For example, leave on the next blinds when you hit $180 or leave when you've lost your second buy in for the night. IF you lose your roll. Quit poker for something like 3 months before you can play again.
If you don't keep a roll, you will never be able to gauge how you're doing. You could be dumping so much money and not knowing it.
I'll write more later for you. If you don't wanna listen, that's your choice...but I want you to stop losing money and just telling me about how bad you play all the time.

i guess this thing has died out since we decided not to go to vegas. its a lot less fun when you have no goal or end in sight and have other things to do in life.
im kinda glad it turned out this way. we can put some perspective on the importance of poker in our daily activities and realize its just for recreation.
remember when it wasnt that way? we played to really try and get better and had dreams of winning big? i havent had a thought like that in a while.

I'm playing with a bunch of bots.
There's no way real people can play 12 or 14 tables at a time.
I guess you find this a lot at these low levels.
Also, I just donked off a buyin on this hand
UTG raise to 1.50
Next calls
I raise to 6 with QQ
Button calls
UTG calls
Flops 789
UTG goes all in
I call thinking he had maybe JJ or 1010. I must have overestimated him cuz he had 88.
gay and stupid.

I think I have to quit poker for a while. I've lost way too much on just huge bad beats. It's my fault for playing too high for my roll.
I lost like 3/4 of my roll on two hands. gg.
This guy played his hand so badly...

I hold a record that none of you guys will ever match, not even Alan.
I opened up my sharkscope file just to take a look and see whats going on and....
I have two separate losing streaks in SNGs of 10 and 11 games.
0 winning streaks.
Highest cash streak was only 3.
I really need to fix this ish....and fast!

Here's a good piece of advice if you have some FPP left.
210FPP SNG satellite to the Sunday Hundred Grand.
20 players, you only need to finish top 6!
prize is $11 entry to tournament but you can unregister and have $11 Tournament Dollars to use elsewhere.
I just got owned by the perfect flop. I raise with AhQs, one caller from SB. Flop comes Q and two unders with 2 hearts. Check, I bet, He raises, I go all-in, he has KK. GG.
only when its not for money...

I hate this game. I really do.
Things that happen to me and only me:
1. Every time I have a big hand and raise, everyone folds. If I have a mediocre hand, they always call or reraise.
2. If I flop a set, I'm getting flushed or straighted on. No questions asked.
3. If I have A10, they have AJ. If I have AJ, they have AQ.
4. I don't win 60-40. I don't.
5. If I fold a pair preflop, I not only hit the set, but I would have stacked at least one person with it.

Last Longer. Get stronger.
Hello ladies,
First of all, if you haven't read my last post, read it. You only have to read the first paragraph of this one because the rest is just a running blog of Daniel Negreanu playing on FT earlier today.
For those of you who are man enough, I want to propose a last longer bet for a tournament we can all play together. I say everyone puts up $10 and the person who lasts the longest gets $10 transfered by each player into their account. Or maybe $5 if they will let you transfer that little. What do you think? Will it make people play better?
Down? Not Down?
Daniel Negreanu $5000+100 headsup....while I play 50 FTP SNG at work. haha.

Ownage. He won on the next hand.
oOOooh...that guy wants a rematch!!!!!
sick. daniel had the guy allin with AK vs J7 and he flops J7. now hes losing 1700 to 1300.
final table of this stupid FTP tournament and I go card dead. how terrible.
my all in hand is gonna be A6 from sb! chop with A5. =(
looks like i survive to lose with a better hand the next time.
A7. not much better...same guy with A5 has KQ this time. no ace for me =(
meanwhile, daniel and this guy are going at it. 50/100 blinds dead even...
all in KJ and Q10 for daniel.. daniel flops 2, 10's and wins.
2000-1000 lead. Redemption for that AK vs J7 hand.
A2 vs A4 all in again. They both hit and daniel loses with the 2. 1700-1300
should be all in with any ace or pair at this point....or even KQ KJ for that matter.
75/150...now it should be allin with anything better than Q7. haha
it has turned into a fold fest.
daniel lost almost his whole stack with 1010 vs A3. He flopped 37936. Terrible.
you know im bored if im keeping a running log of someone elses game.
This was a few days ago. Not that important, but it makes me feel all tingly inside. haha.

Thoughts: .01/.02 NLH and Other random stuff
You know, that late night poker game was kinda fun. Here's a few things I noticed...
but before that...
SIGN ON TO AIM OR GCHAT WHEN YOU PLAY. Why? Because I want to stalk you...
haha
1. Am I the only one who's not scared of Kenny? If you guys keep playing like sissies, he's going to continue running over you.
2. Am I the only one who's scared of Kenny? If you guys try to make plays on him, he's going to catch you for a huge pot.
3. Should we play that .01/.02 game for real money? If we take over a whole table with 6 of us, we can translate that $5 buy-in into $50 and just transfer money to the winners. It'd be less friendly, I guess but.... there's no rake! That's awesome.
4. Learn WHEN to make moves on people. Don't just guess that maybe it's the right time to make a play on someone and hope they will lay down a hand. There's a WHOLE LOT MORE to it.
5. Ask more questions about hands you've played badly. You can learn a lot more from eliminating mistakes than you can from great plays. I promise.
6. I think AK likes to gamble the most out of the 4 of us.
7. Alan can't fold a good hand. The problem with the way you play them, Alan is...
a. You don't bet the proper amounts. Ask Kenny what you should bet and why. You always raise too little preflop with your monsters because you want a call sooo badly (or too much and you feel like you have committed yourself to follow through no matter what cards come), and then you overbet the flops when you miss and underbet when you hit. That's part of the reason you take bad beats. The range of hands opponents can play against you is extra large. On flops you don't drive out drawing hands because you bet too little or you push out legitimate hands that are drawing nearly dead on you by betting too much.
b. You try to play power poker (which is not a bad thing) but i think you need to reread some of those books and ask more questions. I have a feeling you try to play a particular way, but you haven't grasped the essence of what you've learned.
c. I'm not picking on you. I want you to be better. Notice I'm not giving you crazy advice on how to play hands. That's because I'm honestly not that good at poker. I make terrrrrrrible moves all the time.
d. While I'm on this subject, all of us need to ask more questions about BAD PLAYS we made. That's why everyone's here. And when we answer questions, remember that it's not always about number crunching (though 90% of the time thats the case). Don't forget that the opposition should be put on a range of hands in order to really calculate odds.
8. If I had to make an honest assessment about our skills in a ring game compared to each other, I would rank everyone in the following order:
a. Kenny (He just seems to understand this game better than everyone else until he goes crazy and does something retarded while hes on tilt)
b. Me (I might not be great, but I am consistent, don't go on tilt, am usually not stupid, and probably played more poker than the rest of you guys)
c. Alan/AK (I don't think I've played enough with AK to tell you where he's at in regards to skill. I feel like if you two played heads up, it would really be a matter of who got better cards. Andy would surely win more pots, but Alan would win bigger pots. Think about that statement. It's true)
d. Wen/Shawn (Cuz they don't play with us. I'm gonna put them at the bottom until they man up and get in the game)
*edit* I should probably drop myself to the bottom of this list. I just checked my tournament history on FT and I've lost 10 straight SNGs. Make that 11 because I lost one just now that was 300FTP.
but before that...

At this very moment, Allen Cunningham is 10 tabling $2/$4 NLH. 10 tabling. wow.
I feel like playing some $1/$2 tonight, but thats risking my whole online roll if I do that.
Things you really shouldn't push all-in preflop with in most spots during any tournament:
A2-AJ
22-99
----------
I'd honestly rather push with KQ than any ragged ace. Why? Because if you're short stacked enough to be pushing with A-Rag, you will get called by any better ace or any pocket pair. And not by any other hands. Theres no need to be dominated when you make your move.
I learned my lesson with AJ yesterday UTG in a 180 person SNG. With less than 30 people left, and me short stacked (9BB), I pushed all-in and was called by AQ who was the BB. Too bad, cuz I was only one guy away from stealing those blinds. In that spot though, I knew that if I got called, I was going to be losing. Or if I was extremely lucky, I might be racing. The thing is, at that point in the tournament, I might get called by a small pocket pair if they suck. However, it is pretty much a given that anyone without AQ, AK, AJs (and a big stack), or a bigger pair will fold. I probably should have waited for a better spot to steal a few blinds, but I got panicked and impatient.
Don't go broke on hands like this.
Damn this was fishy for some reason, but I couldn't lay down a Q here.

So I almost folded this hand, because it was only the second nut and there were basically 3 people all-in. These guys, however are TERRIBLE at Omaha. So I figured my second nut was good and that one guy would have something like AA, another guy KK or QQ, and another guy a set (the raiser). Lucky for me, the board didn't pair, eh? =)

Why did I go all-in on the flop? Because this guy was super loose and super stupid. I was hoping he would call me with just about anything. Too bad his "anything" was a ridiculous hand that I didn't think even he could have. What a noob. You just can't help these things I guess.

I CHALLENGE YOU TO A DUEL!!!
well...sort of a duel.
I think we should have a Blogger SNG!
That'd be fun, no?
There's 4 player heads up matches on PS.
Me, Kenny, AK, and Alan. It goes without saying that a Korean person will win it, but Alan is still welcome to try. (Why am I so mean to you Alan??? It's cuz I love you the most.)
Maybe Shawn and Wen can get in the action and we can play 6 handed SNGs.
Who's down? Who's a chicken? Who's gonna be ultimate champion? Who's got the worst PS luck ever?
The answers are: Probably Kenny, Definitely Alan, It's a toss up, and without a doubt me.

Here's a few things that happened recently
1. I played in a home game with some TERRIBLE people this Friday. I couldn't believe how bad they were. There were 14 people who bought in for $20 each and once it got 4 handed I had a pretty decent chip lead. However, the blinds were extremely high, my cards ran cold, and there was NO WAY you could steal a pot from these noobs. If I could have only caught a decent, playable hand here and there, the tournament would have been mine. There was some bad luck involved too. Namely this DONKEY play:
I had about 10,000 blinds were 500/1,000. I haven't raised a hand in ages, getting blinded down like crazy. So from the button I raise to 5,000 with KQ. The guy on my left who is super loose and sucks like crazy calls. He only has like 500 left but for some crazy reason he didn't push in all his chips.
Flop A J J. I bet the rest, he calls and stands up "I lost...dangit." Turn comes a 4, river a 9.
He flips over 34 and wins the pot.
That didn't make me mad. What made me mad was that he started talking a bunch of trash about how he just crushed me with 34. Eventually he took me out and then proceeded to talk even more trash. What a little punk.
2. Saturday (my birthday), I didn't do anything. I managed to win a SNG in the morning, played basketball, took a nap, and then realized that my FT was down! WTFFF!!! So I did the stupid thing I said I wouldn't do and played with my remaining PS money. I lost like $50. Not a lot of money except I new it was already gone before I even started playing.
3. Sunday morning, I played a SNG on FT cuz it was back up and managed to win by dominating a bunch of noobies.
On a poker side note: Why do I always get the super aggressive guy on my left? Or the guy who never folds to anything but an all in raise when the blinds are big? It's crazy, but the last few tournaments I have been severely handcuffed by these types of players because you can't really steal from them. So to combat that, I've just been trying to be more patient and hoping to get lucky against them with any advantage I can find.
Also, I can't remember the last time I finished third in a SNG. Maybe my short handed/heads up game is getting better. woo hoo!
4. Later Sunday I went to watch "21" with Brian Choi, Jane Chung, Robin Djang, and my friend Judy. We had a little bit of time left before the movie so we went to the little arcade where they happened to have an old Marvel vs. Capcom game in the corner. Jane was like "Oh! I know how to play this!" So she puts in a quarter, and Robin decides to join her as Player 2. Immediately, I said "Man Robin, you're gonna get owned by Jane so bad." Btw, Jane is the type of player who just presses all the buttons like a maniac. To make a short story even shorter, Jane dominated Robin as he shriveled in humiliation. Later, we found him still frantically searching around the machine for his balls.
5. I watched a guy run three red lights in a row in Boston. There are times when you might not see a red light and you just run it. This was not one of those times. Each time, the guy paused for a second at the red light and proceeded to run them without conscience. It was pretty amazing.

This is how some of us are doing in SNGs.
Here are some helpful websites/programs for you guys:
www.sharkscope.com (5 free searches daily/11.99 monthly for subscription)
http://www.sngwiz.com (free 30 day trial, $99 unlimited forever)
http://www.sitngo-analyzer.com/ (i dunno exactly but it seems kinda like sngwiz)

Tournament of Destiny!
You might not know exactly what I'm talking about if you haven't played that many SNGs, but there is definitely an element of destiny involved in these things sometimes.
I'd say that a good 25% of heads up contests seem totally fixed in a way that one person is just destined to win and the other person...just doesnt stand a chance.
Yesterday, I won a tournament of destiny. This wasnt your typical "I had a huge chip lead and I won with the worst hand" story. That happens all the time.
We started the heads up with this guy on a MAD RUSH. He took out the last 3 people and had more than a 5 to 1 chip lead.
The blinds were up to 400/800 and I was catching 23, 25, 37. This effectively brought me down to a 10 to 1 chip deficit. At this point, I was thinking "GG man. Stupid cards."
Then, a silly thing happened. I doubled up with the worst hand to 2,000 then 4,000 and all of a sudden, I had the chip lead....all with the worst hand.
Then I had AK, he had A4 and had pushed all in. Obviously I called and he hit two fours on the flop and I was back to square one with about 2,000 chips.
This same sequence played out 3 times and for some unexplainable reason, I wasnt even remotely scared that I would lose. I just knew this win was mine.
The last sequence, I was down to 1,200. I doubled up to 2,400 and then 4,800, then won a couple preflop to get to a little ahead in chips.
The last hand was AQ vs Q9. I had finally won, and a dominating favorite finally came out ahead.
So I started with $101 yesterday and I'm back to $145. Maybe I can go on a good run.

I'm not sure why I am taking this HUGE risk with my roll, but I just felt like it.

I'm glad the straight didn't come or I would have been in huge trouble. Value bet the river hoping he just had any pair and got a couple hundred more out of it.
I think if this hand played out about 10 hands later, I would have been a little more aggressive because i found out he's pretty aggressive and stupid. However, at the beginning of a tournament, you really dont want to lose with AA against a small set, so I played it a little passively on the turn especially after his check/raise.
Hand 20: J4o from SB. One caller late position and me. Flop J 9 4, check he bets 30, I call. Turn check, he bets 120, I min raise, he folds. Maybe I should have let him buy it again on the river. =/
Hand 21: KQ. Call from late position with 2 callers ahead. SB raises to 150, one call and I call. Flop A Q 10. SB bets 180, one call, I call (backdoor nut flush draw too). Turn comes blank, All in, call, fold. Caller turns over KJ. $3425
Hand 34: Made $20 by knocking out a short stack by making an awesomely small bet on the flop.

Hand 34: Made $20 by knocking out a short stack by making an awesomely small bet on the flop.

april fools, sucker. i got jacked by this april fools joke today:
http://www.google.com/virgle/index.html
heres the real post:
ALWAYS SECOND BEST
i dont know why, but i really dont like discussing specific hands on my blog. i think its mostly because im too lazy to write a real analysis of the situation, but well...yeah, thats the only reason.
two things for today:
1. QQ v KK
2. Always second best.
1. this specific hand is retarded because theres really only one thing to do, but i went ahead and did the other thing. you know, the one where if you were standing behind me, you would say "uhh..i dont think you should do that man."
i had QQ on the button (i have just under $25) in a 6 handed .25/.50 table and the guy one off raises to 1.50. now, ive only been at the table for one round, so i dont know what his range is. considering its a short handed table at relatively low limits, i decided that i needed to get some more info. easy reraise here to 6.
then he goes all-in and has me covered.
so heres what i can do from this point...
a. fold - would have been a smart move. usually a third raise is a good indicator that a moderately tight player holds AA or KK and a very slight chance its QQ or AKs. unfortunately i have a 0% read on this guy and he could easily be an idiot with AQs, JJ, or even 10 10. he might have even thought i was trying to steal from the button (though most people dont risk their whole stack on a read like this. im talking to you, shawn. jp =P ). im sure i could have gone on to win some money if i just folded and played a solid game.
b. call - unfortunately, he didnt reraise me to 12 or 15 or something like that. its more likely that i would have folded if he looked like he wanted a call that badly. sometimes when they push all-in, you want to give them less credit for a dominant hand preflop. but thats also usually not on the 3rd raise. so i called like the noob i am, he had KK and i got pwned.
*note: when you see a min raise from anybody but a loose preflop player UTG, BEWARE. that just screams AA. its usually the noobies who make this move (i saw alan do it with KK in a home game against andy kang) but when it happens to you, dont make me have to say "i told you so."
*if this was a single table SNG, folding would have been much easier at the lower blinds.
2. you ever have those days where you get reraised every time you bet at a pot and dont have the hand to back it up? i mean, its not even a steal that youre making, but youre getting popped back all day long? thats how my whole last week of poker online has been.
its stuff like this (not an actual example):
ill have A9s and call from like middle position. get one more call and sb and bb call and check.
flop comes A 7 3. check, check, i bet half or 2/3 the pot, guy behind folds... shoudl be an easy pickup, right? NO! somehow the guy in the sb or bb either thinks im stealing or hits A3o or 73o and pops me back 4x or 5x the bet. i cry for about 10 seconds and then fold.
this is a trend thats been ongoing now for a while.
so what can i deduce from this?
a. i limp into too many pots with hands that beg to only win second best (dont say i bet too many flops. i feel like flops are the easiest place to steal. if it doesnt work, you probably set up a good situation on the turn where you get a free card or another chance to take it down)
b. i need to learn how to fold (even though i fold, its hard for me to come to terms that im beat by that nonsense)
c. should i even be betting at these pots? i suppose i could just check and see what happens, but id rather take them down right there before they hit the random inside straight and i lose more money because i cant put them on any sort of hand. if i dont take it down there, (see point a) i can get a better read on what they have and make a better informed decision on the turn. or in my case....fold because they put in a raise and outflopped me.

Last night, I went to Bay 101 and I didn't even have to play poker. I was hitting every set left and right. It was so ridiculous that...I don't even want to talk about it.
+ $600
Usually, I stick to $11+1 Turbo SNGs but after getting destroyed playing on PokerStars (which I have sworn off forever because I'm 0-200000 in tournaments on that site) decided to play a $22+2 SNG.
I floated around for a while and got super lucky on an all-in hand where I had AQ vs AK and the board put up 2 pairs for a nice surprise chop. I was already getting ready to close the window.
Later on in that tournament (4 handed), I made a call from the BB with 4 5 (blinds 150/300) to a button raise for $660 total. The SB folded. Flop comes 467 and I put out a bet and Button goes All-in for about $1500 more. He shows J7 of all cards. I guess I shouldn't have even made that preflop call if I wasn't ready to call a flop like that.
3 handed, I was pretty short stacked at just about $1600 when the other two stacks went at it.
AJ vs J8. Needless to say, the guy wtih J8 (the big stack) hits runner runner for an inside straight and makes me just a little richer.
When heads up started, the chip count was something like 12,000 - 1500 and he was the worst heads-up player ever. I destroyed him like I destroy Alan Sun. In fact, I'm gonna email him to chnage his name to ALAN SUN. So I can find him and beat him heads-up all day long.
FT: $398.68
Cash Count from last two sessions: $1075

lets go rangers: that guy took a beatinggggggg
now, lets all thank "rangers" for reminding me exactly what happened just now.

I didn't sleep last night.
It's 7:20 AM, and since I'm not sleeping and I have yet to sleep, that can only mean one thing!
I went to Barona alone after bowling last night to satiate my thirst for action. I was driving home and just kept going....all the way to the casino.
Anyways, things started off like crap. As I was waiting for the $1/$3 NLH to open up, I decided to brush up on some limit skills. Unfortunately, I forgot how different and terrible that game can be. I immediately lost $70 in the first few minutes. I dont think I even made it one round before getting the call to the $1/$3. I couldn't pick up my chips fast enough.
So I sit with a bunch of donkeys, and only have $130 instead of $200. DO NOT PLAY OTHER GAMES WHILE YOU WAIT FOR YOURS!!!!!!
and I'm dealt AKh. I raised it to $12 and got 2 callers. Flop came A junk junk. I bet $24 and got 2 callers. Turn came more junk. I bet $50 and got 1 call. Turn paired the junk and I went all in thinking "Damn this was a short night." To my delight, he calls and turns over AJ.
Later, I got AKc so I raise it up to $12 and the second caller from the first hand (who is very loose) looks like he wants to raise. So I look at him and say "Don't you wanna gamble?" because he said that to the guy he played in the previous hand and made a call. So having had his pride tested, he goes all in for $150 and I instantly call. AJ again! Needless to say, I flop a K and its game over for him.
I played some more good hands and got all the way up to about $950 before hitting a really dry spell. Then I turned into a freaking donkey/fish/noob.
The play went from a full table to 5 handed, so the quality of hands I was playing obviously went down a little.
Mid position raise to $15 by some guy who is a solid player from what I can tell, I call from the SB with K10h.
Flop comes Js10d9d. I check, he bets $20 and I call thinking I have lots of outs and lots of ways to steal the pot.
Turn comes Qd, so I check again and he bets out $30 and I call again thinking my straight might be good right now.
River comes Ad. He bets $80 and I think loooong and hard about it.
I couldn't put him on a hand, but in my head I just wanted him to not have a diamond at all.
Needless to say, after about 2 minutes, I finally call and he flips over J8d for a straight flush.
There are many ways I could have played this pot. I supposed I didnt lose the MOST money I could have lost, but I also could have easily laid that hand down and not thought about it twice. But because I wanted to make a "Hero Call," I lost a big chunk of my stack for nothing.
Later I lost to a guy when he went was making small bets through a pot where he had AQ and i had Q2d out of the bb and flopped a Q with a diamond draw. He went all in on the turn for what didnt look like much when I insta-called him, but it turned out to be $100. That hurt.
In the end, I played from 1230am-630am.
Started with: $200
4-8 Limit: -$70
1-3 NLH: $545
Total proft this morning of: $475
and now it'd bedtime.

3 SNGs and a Home Game
First, the AQ I laid down. There were a few contributing factors at this point in the tournament.
1. Four-handed, I felt like I could out play them for the victory.
2. At the cutoff, there was one pretty short stack ($1345 @ 100/200 blinds) and I wanted to make the money first since mere victories are not all I'm aiming for with these SNGs.
3. That guy was SUUUUUUPER tight and sometimes, you just get that feeling. I thought AA KK or AK for sure.
4. I have X-ray vision. Looking back at it, it should have been a really tough lay down or I should have called. But in the moment, I felt it and just folded.
Today:
I played 3 different $11+1 SNGs on Fulltilt today.
9th place, 3rd place, and 1st place.
More importantly though, I raped a $5 home game at Bern's place. It ended up just being me, Alan, and Andy Kang at the end. And it was never all that close. I miss these things. =)
end FT Roll: $336.48
It seems like my roll isn't really moving anywhere, but I should have more time to focus when I get back to Taunton.
P.S. I own Alan so bad. It's not even funny.
GG Alan =)

Just bought into Pokerstars today for $100. I was tempted to take it out of my regular checking (starting a separate roll) but changed my mind and am just using my current roll (like a smart person would).
So far I'm not really feeling the graphics. It feels cluttered. I'm sure I will get used to it quickly.
This hand is epitomizes the reason that we play poker against noobs and quit poker because of them.

Oh, I'm lucky. Doubled up to $2600 on a guy who I thought was just trying to steal my BB. I reraised him Q10s and he called me down quickly with JJ. I flopped a Q and dodged some backdoor straight and flush draws he had.
And...I officially suck.
Started at $101.41
Now at $69.41 after two retarded losses in $15+1 SNGs.
NOTE TO SELF: DO NOT PLAY AT WORK!!!!

If I don't cash in this SNG....
I vow to never play at work again.
You know you're gonna have to bankroll me if I don't make enough, Kenny. So be prepared to make 3k and buy me into some satellite SNGs.
Starting: $235.68
I'm taking Kenny's advice and playing a regular speed 9 person SNG $10+1.
Let's see if I remember how to run these like the old Party Poker days.
Hand 1. Folded AJ to a mid position raise. Easy fold for you noobies out there (Alan, I'm talking to you!).
For some reason, I just remembered a conversation involving me, Kenny, and some other kid at Sycuan many years back about raising UTG with small suited connectors. Probably wouldn't recommend use of that strategy early in a SNG, but in a ring game you can take bigger risks with your chips. Of course if you hit, its one of those ninja hands that nobody will put you on.
10 hands in and nothing to report. zzzz.
24 hands in and nobody has busted out and there's only been one all-in bet by a short stack.
34 hands in one person out nothing new on my part (blinds are 50/100 now)
Just lost half my stack on this hand:

I knew I had the first guy beat and I figured the other guys for hands with a couple over cards. Still, its a good thing i didnt go crazy and shove in all my chips to isolate the guy. There is no doubt i would have been insta-called by the 44.
Time to start stealing blinds to get myself back into the game.
AKs and nobody calls. That kinda stuff kills me. I guess a sure win is better than a risky double up sometimes.
I overbet this pot hoping someone had a big flush draw, but again, no callers...

I think this was a good check on the flop by me (even if its terrible to go all in on a draw). I was going to call anything no matter what with a draw like that (and my short stack) and I figured he was going to bet regardless of if he hit or not.
Played solid poker got some decent cards and took down first in this one for $45, netting $34.
Not exactly a huge payday, but im back in the win column!
$269.68
also, juggling customers/paper work and poker is not smart.
*EDIT*
Back at home to see if this $10+1 win was just a fluke...but mostly cuz I'm addicted to poker.
Somehow, I ended up committing 90 chips on the first hand with 66 on the button. I called 30, someone doubled, so I called, and then someone else made it 3 bets. It was like I was playing limit and got suckered into it.
5 pocket pairs in 20 hands and not one hit to capitalize on.
Bleh, nothing ever came my way. Finished third for a net of $7. What a waste.
Roll:
$276.68
You know you're gonna have to bankroll me if I don't make enough, Kenny. So be prepared to make 3k and buy me into some satellite SNGs.
Starting: $235.68
I'm taking Kenny's advice and playing a regular speed 9 person SNG $10+1.
