You know, that late night poker game was kinda fun. Here's a few things I noticed...
but before that...
SIGN ON TO AIM OR GCHAT WHEN YOU PLAY. Why? Because I want to stalk you...
haha
1. Am I the only one who's not scared of Kenny? If you guys keep playing like sissies, he's going to continue running over you.
2. Am I the only one who's scared of Kenny? If you guys try to make plays on him, he's going to catch you for a huge pot.
3. Should we play that .01/.02 game for real money? If we take over a whole table with 6 of us, we can translate that $5 buy-in into $50 and just transfer money to the winners. It'd be less friendly, I guess but.... there's no rake! That's awesome.
4. Learn WHEN to make moves on people. Don't just guess that maybe it's the right time to make a play on someone and hope they will lay down a hand. There's a WHOLE LOT MORE to it.
5. Ask more questions about hands you've played badly. You can learn a lot more from eliminating mistakes than you can from great plays. I promise.
6. I think AK likes to gamble the most out of the 4 of us.
7. Alan can't fold a good hand. The problem with the way you play them, Alan is...
a. You don't bet the proper amounts. Ask Kenny what you should bet and why. You always raise too little preflop with your monsters because you want a call sooo badly (or too much and you feel like you have committed yourself to follow through no matter what cards come), and then you overbet the flops when you miss and underbet when you hit. That's part of the reason you take bad beats. The range of hands opponents can play against you is extra large. On flops you don't drive out drawing hands because you bet too little or you push out legitimate hands that are drawing nearly dead on you by betting too much.
b. You try to play power poker (which is not a bad thing) but i think you need to reread some of those books and ask more questions. I have a feeling you try to play a particular way, but you haven't grasped the essence of what you've learned.
c. I'm not picking on you. I want you to be better. Notice I'm not giving you crazy advice on how to play hands. That's because I'm honestly not that good at poker. I make terrrrrrrible moves all the time.
d. While I'm on this subject, all of us need to ask more questions about BAD PLAYS we made. That's why everyone's here. And when we answer questions, remember that it's not always about number crunching (though 90% of the time thats the case). Don't forget that the opposition should be put on a range of hands in order to really calculate odds.
8. If I had to make an honest assessment about our skills in a ring game compared to each other, I would rank everyone in the following order:
a. Kenny (He just seems to understand this game better than everyone else until he goes crazy and does something retarded while hes on tilt)
b. Me (I might not be great, but I am consistent, don't go on tilt, am usually not stupid, and probably played more poker than the rest of you guys)
c. Alan/AK (I don't think I've played enough with AK to tell you where he's at in regards to skill. I feel like if you two played heads up, it would really be a matter of who got better cards. Andy would surely win more pots, but Alan would win bigger pots. Think about that statement. It's true)
d. Wen/Shawn (Cuz they don't play with us. I'm gonna put them at the bottom until they man up and get in the game)
*edit* I should probably drop myself to the bottom of this list. I just checked my tournament history on FT and I've lost 10 straight SNGs. Make that 11 because I lost one just now that was 300FTP.
